Resident Evil celebrates its 20th anniversary
« on: March 23, 2016, 12:26:29 pm »
The Resident Evil series turns 20 years old.  Capcom's survival horror franchise began with the Japanese launch of Resident Evil for PlayStation on 22nd March 1996.

A huge success, the game reached European shores five months later and the act of opening doors in a video game would never be the same again.

Resident Evil has since spawned half a dozen sequels, a remake, a prequel and countless spin-offs. It has inspired a successful (if rather B-movie) film franchise, a series of CG films, plus books and clothing (who doesn't love Leon's Resi 4 coat?).

But what of the future, and of the inevitable Resident Evil 7?

It has been three years since the launch of Resident Evil 6, the series' last numbered release which earned itself fair-to-middling reviews. And while episodic spin-off Revelations 2 was enjoyable enough, fans are hoping that this anniversary year holds an announcement of the next big Resident Evil game - one that can secure the series' future for another 20 years.

Capcom have already announced that all they will be doing is HD remasters for the forseeable future so Resi 7 is nothing but a fans dream.

Resi 2 is in my top 5 games of all time along with Resi 4. I'm thinking of picking up the 1st one as I never really played that much if at all.

I haven't played every Resident Evil game, mainly the newer ones I haven't, I loved Nemesis, nothing scarier than hearing the Nemesis music so you know he is near....somewhere.

I played one of the newer enemies when they were in Africa I think, hated it, it was not scary at all and the blood was black, what was that about? :O

I have completed most of the resident evil games, the only ones, that I need to play are RE6 & RE Revelations 2.

The last RE game I completed was Revelations 1, which was a good game.

My favourite RE game of all time is the original RE, because of the creepy mansion.

The last best RE game was code veronica, after that the series went down hill as RE 4 &  5 were terrible.

Resi 4 has been voted one of the best video games of all time and I agree. 5 however I'll agree with you on.

See I did like number 5 maybe that was because of the coop play and maybe because I don't hold the previous games before up like a holly grail.

I played 5 solo but heard co-op it was really enjoyable. But as survival horrors go they should be solo experiances. Dead space 3 done the same, ruined a great franchise trying cop op.

Depends on who you ask, as the most common answer you get for which is the best Resident Evil of all times comes down to RE2, RE4 & sometimes RE Veronica, but mainly it usually a battle between RE2 & RE4, which RE2 usually wins on Resident Evil fansites.

The first time I played RE was on the Gamecube, loved the game! I haven't played all resi games but I enjoyed RE4 a lot, RE 5 was a nice game but nothing special tbh. RE revelations I played on the 3DS and that was good fun, but my favourite is still the original remake on the Gamecube I think 8)
