Title: Worth a buy?
Post by: UltraViolet on January 27, 2019, 08:59:43 am
I’m wondering about getting this, but, a few things have put me off, the main one is micro transactions secondary the setting of the game; I’m not realy interested in a American cult thing.
But, I’ve had lots of fun with the other games and I’m enjoying far cry 4 when I play it.
So my main question to the people who have played it is, is it as good as part 3 and 4 ?

I haven't done Far Cry 3 or 4 so I can't compare. However I had fun with 5 despite it being a typical ubisoft game. Ie. Massive map, overwhelming amount of stuff to do.
I quite liked the cult aspect, but it got a bit over the top. As for micro transactions I didn't buy anything to complete the game.

3 will always be the Best IMO but I'd say it's better than 4 I loved it and never spent any money on Micro Transactions also if you're Planning on getting Far Cry New Dawn it's a must as the new one is set in the same place just 17 years later wont say anymore cause of Spoilers

I keep seeing this on offer and pondering myself. Still havent though. Far too much stuff to play and this seems like it would need a bunch of time.

Im going to stop buying games until I finish some of the ones I have ! :) (Infact.. I havent even started some of them.. shame on me)

Hopefully when New Dawn gets released this will be nice and cheap. I don’t like endlessly looking at enemy health bars so New Dawn is out the window for me

Whole Campaign can be played in Online Co-Op afraid there's No Local Co-Op

Far Cry 3 is the best game in the series. Far Cry 4 is the same as fc3 just with hd visual, but the charcters & story is not as good a fc3.  Farcy 5 IMO is much better then fc4, the us, mordern time cult setting is exellent.   The fact that you can clay the eniter campaign of fc5 in co-op is a bonus.  Far Cry New Dawn takes place 17 years after fc5.

I'm a far cry fan and have played most of the far cry games, aprart from fc2 & primal.  So I'll likey buy fc5 new dawn.

has anyone played the three DLC's ?
Do you mean for far cry 5 ?

If so then yes I have played all 3 dlc, as I got the fc5 gold edition.

dlc1 Hours of darkness is - you play a pow set in nam you have to escape the area & reach the rendevous point to escape. about 4 hours
dlc2 Lost on mars, you play a red neck who get transported to mars to stop an alien invasion for coming to earth. about 6-8 hours
dlc3 Dead living zombies - you play a director/screen writter trying to pitch your zomblie flick ideas to a holly exec. 3-4 hours.

I thought the zombie one was going to be my fav of the dlc, but intead it was the least appealing dlc that was the one I enjoyed the most, dlc1 nam.  Also Hurk from the far cry series is in dlc 2.

great info, i can see why the prices are quite low now, i'm glad they are not the same price as the yeti expansion for FC4

Was thinking about getting FC: New Dawn, but instead picked up FC5 on special offer.

Enjoying it quite a bit, must say.

Whilst the antagonist isn't quite as memorable as FC3, I think I prefer the game overall (especially mission design which was a bit meh in FC3).

Perhaps lacks the atmosphere of FC2, but since New Dawn is set in the same world as FC5, thought I would give it a go.

If anyone wants a co-op game of FC5 (PC), let me know.  Never tried any these games co-op, could be fun.

i'm enjoying the game as well; going almost directly from FC4 to this i was expecting more of the same really, although i was forgetting how many years ago FC4 was released and everything is improved
