Waiting for a GOTY / price drop first.

£50 for a PC game (£40 some places) is too much for a new PC game when everything else is £35 / £40 before discounts.

Also whilst the reviews are good, they still haven't fixed the AI which :(

(Plus Witcher 3 is taking up Civ like amounts of time)

Used to like it way back in the day.

What's 'new' about Civ 6?  Last couple of times I've tried things like it 'Beyond Earth' for example I've got bored after a couple of attempts.

There are new mechanics in it although I'm not entirely sure what they all are so far. From a very brief glimpse so far, the government management appears different to C5. It has a card game (harking back to the board game I played back in the 80's) feel about it. I know there are changes to the way that the Hex resources and buildings work meaning you need to trade off production/food for the culture/building functions you want for your empire. But I haven't really got that far yet.

Graphically it was slick and a bit more cartoony than 5, but I like it so far.

It probably is very similar to Civ 5 but I have to admit that I am a "phanboi" of the series and owned almost all the versions so far - So I am about the subtle changes more than others :P

Never go into civ games always prefer the total wars series for building, researching and battles.

I love Civ, but 5 still has tons of play in it for me when compared to forty quid for 6...

Now this is down to half price, it's a lot more reasonable. £21.30 on wingamestore with discount code "itad" at the moment, which is almost the cheapest its ever been on sale.

Having played a few games through on 6, my impression is that even at the cheapo price I bought it (£21), there's not enough new ideas here. I do agree it will likely become the best Civ after a while, so for anyone new to the franchise this is definitely the one. For anyone who's got V with all the expansions/DLC though, this (imo) is only really worth a tenner or so at the moment. What you have is pretty solid.
