This is something which often *almost* happens, for a short time. I mean we're like goldfish with our attention span these days.
For example, loads of people have No Man's Sky installed and some even play it once in a while (unlike me after the first week even though I quite liked it!). I know that's not trolly/killy but the example is that we dive into survival games for a while but there never seems the 20+ casual or 6-8 serious players you'd need for a decent Clan.
Speaking personally I think part of it is that none of these games has yet had the WOW factor for me. I've spent decent amounts of time in Rust and a few others but never felt like I wanted to live there for a few months. Once a game in this genre cracks the kind of appeal a decent MMO attracts I think there'll be a revolution.
