ME Legendary Edition Skips Pinnacle Station DLC
« on: February 05, 2021, 01:14:45 pm »

Mass Effect Legendary Edition will contain more than 40 pieces of DLC when it ships, but the Pinnacle Station expansion for the first entry won't be a part of the long list. That's because support team Demiurge Studios was the one to put it together and the data BioWare received upon requesting it for the remastered collection was almost completely corrupt. The RPG developer states it really wanted to include Pinnacle Station in its plans for the full remaster of Mass Effect, but the situation was taken out of its control.

In an interview with Game Informer, game director Mac Walters expanded on the predicament. He says that since the original code was no longer properly accessible, the team would need to completely remake the DLC from scratch to be included. "It would basically take us another full six months just to do this with most of the team we've got. I wish we could do it. Honestly, just because this is meant to be everything that the team ever created, brought together again - all the single-player content. And so, leaving it all on the cutting-room floor, it was heartbreaking." https://www.gameinformer.com/2021/02/02/bioware-explains-pinnacle-station-dlc-exclusion-from-mass-effect-legendary-edition

Pinnacle Station was essentially a combat arena located on a top-secret Alliance space station that consisted of 13 different challenges. Containing roughly three hours of gameplay, there wasn't any content relating to the story. You would unlock powerful guns for use in the main game instead.

It's clear then that BioWare tried its best to include Pinnacle Station in its plans, but delaying the project by six months just wasn't feasible. Still, there are over 100 hours of content to experience as part of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition so it's not the end of the world.

Think this dlc was also missing from the PS3 port possibly for the same reason.
